Krist has been a freelance writer for 10 years covering everything from the best chicken coops to Arya Stark’s Game of Thrones kill list, but writing came as a second career. In her previous incarnation, Krist was an emergency and critical care veterinary technician. She worked at the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital ICU and several private referral hospitals.
In addition to her experience in veterinary medicine, Kristi spent years learning the ins and outs of living a sustainable life — growing gardens and raising livestock all across the Southeast.
Since childhood, she has been obsessed with animals of all kinds, furry, scaly, and exo-skeletony, and can frequently be found photographing caterpillars and talking to the orb-weaver spiders who live in her garden. Her current goal is to make her first crow friend.

A Word From Kristi Pahr
I fell into freelance writing somewhat by accident. I always knew I wanted to write, but I dreamed of writing the great American novel like many budding writers. Instead, I picked up freelancing as a side hustle after the birth of my second child, and boom, it spiraled into a whole career.
Spending time with words is sacred, and putting those words out into the world is a responsibility I don’t take lightly. And while I treasure the time I get to spend crafting narratives, I’m never happier than warm spring and summer nights sitting on my back porch under a full moon, listening to the nightbirds, frogs, and crickets sing.
