Experience
As a freelance writer focused on ski, outdoor, and culinary writing, Lily (Krass) Ritter loves to ski almost as much as she loves to eat. She’s written for publications such as SKI, POWDER, and Outside, as well as publishing a cookbook for skiers titled Beyond Skid: A Cookbook For Ski Bums.
Lily grew up skiing Cascade Concrete in the PNW, cementing her love for sliding on snow and the outdoors at the age of 2. She grew up exploring the Cascades on skis, bike, and foot before moving out to the Rockies to study Spanish and Italian at the University of Colorado in Boulder. A love for skiing and writing led her to begin a career in ski journalism beginning with an internship at SKI and (the former) Skiing Magazines.
She now calls the Tetons home, where she loves to backcountry ski, mountain bike, and trail run. Lily writes for over 15 different publications, and is currently working on a second cookbook with her husband, Max Ritter.
Career Highlights
A Word from Lily Ritter
I am a freelance storyteller based in the Tetons with a deep love for skiing, mountain biking, and baking. While it wasn’t until college that I discovered that writing about skiing and the outdoors was, in fact, a real job, I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. Studying Spanish and Italian has fueled my love for exploring new places and connecting with new people; there’s nothing I love more than traveling to a brand-new destination to chase a story.
In addition to an all-consuming addiction to powder skiing, I take snacking seriously, and when I’m not writing or sliding on snow, I’m likely deep into a baking project in my tiny kitchen. I am also the co-author of Beyond Skid: A Cookbook For Ski Bums, a collection of dirtbag-friendly recipes inspired by life in a mountain town. Skiing and eating are two of my great loves, and I love any opportunity to merge the two.
