I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, scaling boarded-up Art Deco skyscrapers downtown until the minute I could move to the mountains of New Mexico. My job as an editor at New Mexico Magazine afforded me the opportunity to explore the state’s beautiful cultures and outdoors for a decade before I set off on the risky adventure of freelance writing.
I’ve been fortunate to create content for National Geographic Travel, Lonely Planet, Outside, and other publications before coming to the awesome team at GearJunkie. When not testing gear and sweating deadlines, I volunteer as a wilderness EMT with Albuquerque Mountain Rescue Council, a technical search and rescue team that specializes in high-angle rope rescues.
