Speed Racer: Giro Bike Helmet Reduces Drag, Slices through Air

It debuted at the Tour de France last summer. This spring, Giro offers its new-generation aerodynamic helmet to the cycling masses.

Called the Air Attack, Giro touts “free speed” gains with the aero design. Two main models — the Air Attack ($200) and Air Attack Shield ($240) — provide a unique cut-through-the-wind dome design that Giro cites has the lowest air drag of any road-type helmet tested.

We have the Air Attack helmets in house at GearJunkie and are currently putting them through some paces. So far we love the close fit and “speed racer” look and performance of the Shield model.
