But we were floored by the (lack of) weight this redesigned Mavic shoe/pedal package measures in at: The 2014 Zxellium Ultimate shoe (250 grams) and the latest Zxellium SLR Ti pedal (77 grams) make for one of the lightest possible cycling setups on the shelf.
Titanium and carbon fiber give the weight edge while not sacrificing strength or stiffness in the sole of the shoe. The high engineering demands a high price tag: The Zxellium shoes are $475; the pedals, $400.
