[leadin]How do you improve upon something as simple as a bike bell? By answering that question, a small company has raised an incredible $720,000, just $20 at a time.[/leadin]
The Oi is a bike bell re-imagined, and the slick form factor has captured the collective imagination of cyclists the world over. Nearly 20,000 people have pledged support for this little bell.
Manufactured by Knog, an Australian bike accessory manufacturer, the genius of the Oi is that it wraps around the handlebars instead of protruding off them “like a blister,” as the company says.
This makes for a sleek design that, as touted by the brand, looks sexy and sounds “like an angel playing a glockenspiel.”
The Oi is available in aluminum for about $20 or titanium for about $33. If you’re looking for a bike bell upgrade, jump on it quick, as today is the last day of the Kickstarter campaign.
Or just wait until the brand launches the bell at retail later this summer. Knog is a bona fide brand, and we look forward to seeing its patented new product soon.
