Electronic shifting for the masses? “Pish posh,” you say.
But State Bicycle Co. — a go-to brand for affordable bikes — says, “Hold my beer.”
The brand unveiled its 6061 All-Road Apex XPLR AXS today, along with a host of upgrades across the rest of its gravel and road lines (more on those other announcements in a second).
The 6061 All-Road Apex XPLR AXS boasts an MSRP of $2,400. That’s quite a deal for a modern 1×12 crossover bike, but it’s especially great for one with SRAM’s AXS electronic shifting drivetrain on board.
“The 6061 All-Road Apex XPLR AXS may be the lowest-priced electronic shifting bike on the market,” a press release from State Bicycle Co. gushed. That’s hard to prove, but I failed to turn up anything cheaper. Maybe you’ll have better luck.
SRAM Apex XPLR AXS hydraulic disc brakes are another upgrade worth noting. And the 12-speed cassette sports a 440% range, so you can chug up gravel slopes or zip along on pavement to your heart’s content. All this on an aluminum frame with a carbon fork. And, hey — peep the understated and timeless styling.
State Bicycle Co. offers two wheelsets with this affordable beast:
- 700c: tubeless capable wheels with Vittoria Terreno Zero 38C
- 650b: tubeless capable wheels with Vittoria Terreno Dry 47c
State’s Other Upgrades
State Bicycle Co. also launched the Carbon All-Road today, a ride that is almost exactly what it sounds like. Carbon? Check. Gravel capable? Double check.
“This bike is lightweight enough to hang on a road ride and sturdy enough for trans-American bike-packing adventures,” State’s marketing department claimed in the press release.
State’s not kidding about that weight-to-adventure-capability ratio. The frame weighs 2.5 pounds and is speckled with a slew of mounting points for panniers, mudguards, water bottles, and whatever else you want to tack on there.
The Carbon All-Road starts at an MSRP of $2,000 for the frame and goes up from there. You can find it on the State Bicycle Co. website, along with the 6061 All-Road Apex XPLR AXS and other goodies.
