Such a tease! Chevrolet officially announced the next-generation Silverado HD 2020, but we won’t see it until third quarter 2019!
Chevy already showed us the 2019 Silverado 1500 and introduced the 2019 Silverado 4500/5500/65000HD. But there was no word on the meat-and-potato, heavy-duty work trucks in the middle – until now. What gives, Chevy? Usually, we see the HD trucks come a few months after the 1500 remodel, not a full year later!
We won’t see the redesigns of the 2500 and 3500 Silverados until late 2019. But we can glean some sense of what they’re about from Chevy’s latest teaser – the single image above. Let’s have a look at what we do know, and what we can expect in the 2020 Silverado HD.
Look Closely at the Image: 2020 Silverado HD
From the teaser image of the new 2020 Silverado HD, you’ll notice there is a Z71 badge on the grille. That badge means there will be a proper off-road truck on offer, straight from the factory. Z71 optioned trucks make for great adventure vehicles, as those trucks are great at getting to remote trailheads.

The front grille of the Silverado HD looks to be influenced highly by the 2019 Silverado 1500 Work truck lineup, above. Gone is the famous Chevy Bowtie, replaced with “Chevrolet” stamped prominently across the grille.
The lettering is also cut out, which allows more air to cool the engine. This setup is similar to the “Flowtie,” which was introduced on the 2018 Camaro ZL1 and carried over to the 2019 Silverado 4500/5500/65000HD trucks.
