Famed ice climber Will Gadd rappels deep into Greenland’s ice shelf to learn more about global warming and climb some mind-blowing routes.
Gadd claims he witnesses global warming firsthand — as his ice climbing season is shorter each year.
To understand how global warming works and what happens to rivers of melted ice and rising sea levels, Gadd and his expedition partner, Professor Jason Gulley, traveled to Greenland.
In Greenland, the 52-year old Canadian ice climber, known for first ascents at Helmcken Falls and Niagara Falls, combined both ice climbing and caving.
“It’s a project that pushed me farther than any other project I’ve ever done,” said Gadd. “I celebrate every moment I get to live fully. Hanging one-handed above a maelstrom on the Greenland ice cap is living. There are moments in life where you couldn’t possibly be living any more than you are in that moment. This is one of them for me.”
