The Truss and Suspension add functions while reducing weight from Gerber’s ‘best-selling’ predecessor.
“From the job site to the campsite,” Gerber does more than knives. The Tigard, Oregon-based brand this week announced the launch of two multitools, both designed to improve its line of butterfly-open EDCs.
Both the 17-function Truss ($46) and 15-function Suspension-NXT ($35) build on the original 12-function Suspension.
“We took everything that users loved about the Suspension and optimized the tool pack to deliver functionality,” said Seth Jaramus, Gerber industrial design manager.
Gerber Truss, Suspension Multitools
The Truss marks an all-new product for Gerber. It offers the same outboard and locking tools as its predecessor but adds a wire stripper, medium flathead driver, awl, file, and ruler. And at 8.5 ounces, it still drops more than half an ounce from the original Suspension.
The smaller Suspension-NXT weighs even less, advertised at under 6.5 ounces. Its updated features are the same as the Truss’, yet it’s longer and has three more functions than the 12-function Suspension.
Both the Suspension-NXT and Truss work off a spring-loaded, needlenose-plier chassis and sport all-steel construction. Both tools are available now. Check out full specs below.
