Leatherman’s third Innovation Garage release marks the brand’s most sustainably made tool to date.

Launching today, the PARTS folding knife not only brings interchangeable blades into the fold (literally), but it is also, according to Leatherman, the brand’s most sustainable tool ever.
“Our goal is to make the best folding knife possible by using the greatest amount of found resources from the factory,” Leatherman said in a release. Specifically, the brand pieced together 26 parts from other tools to engineer this first-of-its-kind Leatherman blade.
Leatherman PARTS Folding Knife
Despite inheriting DNA from a variety of multitools, the PARTS folding knife stands as a comparably streamlined implement among the Leatherman ranks. No drivers, no pliers — just a blade.
Well, two blades actually. PARTS does double duty, depending on the configuration you choose. PARTS can switch between a drop point “EDC blade” with S30V steel, and a “work blade” with 154CM steel (this blade has more of a sheepsfoot shape).
Both steels are high quality, though the S30V wins out for edge retention, while the work blade will prove a little easier to resharpen. The PARTS folding knife comes with a star bit driver to swap between the two blades.
And Leatherman used G10 scales for the handle, which also sports a removable pocket clip. The whole shebang is made in the USA, and fewer than 1,000 PARTS folding knives will exist.
