RAM is bringing its first electric pickup to the New York auto show. The 2025 RAM 1500 Rev isn’t the hyper-futuristic model that the company originally showed off, but it still has plenty to offer — like a maximum targeted range of 500 miles on the bigger of two battery packs and towing that will put it head and shoulders above the half-ton electric pickup pack.
After teasing us with some incredibly futuristic concepts and drawings, RAM showed the exterior of the truck back in February.
The production truck RAM revealed was almost a letdown at first glance. Instead of a cab that cut into the bed and what looked like a unibody, the truck’s bodywork is clearly that of a standard RAM 1500 with some mild cosmetic changes. Now RAM is giving a look at the inside plus some range figures and capability numbers that suddenly make it much more impressive.
New Electric Platform

The frame underneath is not the same as the gas RAM 1500. The company calls it STLA Large and says that it is an EV-centric platform. Though it will share some similarities with the gas truck, it is wider and made to be stronger yet lighter.
Between the frame rails will be a pair of 250kW electric drive units. The drive units combine a motor, gearbox, and inverter. The one up front has an automatic hub disconnect to help save electrons when the extra power and traction aren’t needed. The drive unit in the back will offer an electronic locking limited-slip differential for traction when off-roading.
