If you own a GM pickup or SUV, take note: You may need to bring it to the dealer for repairs.

General Motors issued a recall that affects a whopping 3.4 million vehicles. According to the brand, aging pumps in power-assist brakes can become less effective. As they put out less vacuum, the vehicle takes longer to stop. This could lead to increased chances of accidents.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began investigating the problem in November. GM said 113 reports of crashes and 13 injuries are related to the problem.

GM began notifying owners on September 6.

The recall affects Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups from 2014 through 2018 model years; Cadillac Escalade from 2015 to 2017; and the GMC Yukon and Chevy Suburban and Tahoe from 2015 through 2018.

If you are unsure if the recall affects your GM vehicle, you can visit the GM Recall Center here and enter your VIN for more information.
