The 250cc WS250 Origin is part snowmobile, part enduro motorcycle, and part MTB. And it’s more affordable than that Timbersled you’ve been eyeing for years.

Widescape is a new powersports company out of Canada. This week, it unveiled its first entry to the winter class of ATVs — the WS250 standup snowmobile. We’re told that it’s lightweight, nimble, relatively quiet, and ready for off-trail adventures.

Its creators claim that the WS250 is the world’s first standup motorized snow sled. We can’t speak to that, nor could we find any information about how fast (or slow) this thing is, but here’s what we can tell you.

Widescape WS250 Standup Snowmobile Features

The modified snowmobile from Widescape sounds pretty similar to a 250cc motorcycle in terms of weight, dimensions, and oomph.

It weighs in at just under 200 pounds, and the handlebars stand a little more than 4 feet off the deck. It’s slender enough that two can fit comfortably within most truckbeds. And it’s short enough to transport on the rear hitch rack of most SUVs.

As for power, the WS250 isn’t exactly a Timbersled, but its four-stroke EFI, direct-drive CVT drivetrain and luggy 38mm tread should be enough to disrupt some pristine backcountry powder.

“[It’s] the perfect junction between the snowmobile, the enduro motorcycle, and the mountain bike,” Widescape founder Felix Gauthier said. “We created it for those who are always searching for more freedom to push their limits and stray from the beaten path.”
