Alpenglow Sports Mountain Festival, presented by The North Face, is a 9-day celebration of winter recreation. Registration for the event opens today.

This “mountain lifestyle” festival was born 6 years ago in North Lake Tahoe, California, and has been going strong ever since. This year, the festival will hold over 80 winter sports events and tours, from guides including Alpenglow Sports, Backcountry Babes, Tahoe Backcountry Women, and more.

The festival is set for February 15-23, 2020, and registration just went live. Register to attend a variety of Mountain Festival events via the schedule here.

Mountain Festival aims toward beginners and intermediate skiers. But it will still have something for everyone — from backcountry splitboarding to yoga. The best part? The event is almost entirely free (some activities require a deposit, and some serve as fundraisers). The event will donate proceeds to Protect Our Winters and Tahoe Backcountry Alliance.

“The Mountain Festival was born out of our desire to be accountable and giving to the community who has supported Alpenglow for over 40 years,” said Brendan Madigan, founder of the festival. “We’ve designed the Mountain Festival as a destination event for mountain enthusiasts of all ability levels.”

Mountain Festival Event Highlights

New this year to the festival are more women’s-specific events, nightly social events, and more instructional seminars.

This year’s fest will also welcome several The North Face athletes, who will be leading backcountry tours and doing demos with FUTURELIGHT technology. The North Face athletes in attendance include Hilaree Nelson, Jim Zellers, and Emily Harrington.

The event is packed with events, but these are a few of our favorites:

  • Backcountry Basics 101: How to Skin
  • Tailgate Talk & Happy Hour: How to Design a Ski Graphic
  • Women’s Intermediate Backcountry Ski Tour
  • Tailgate Talk Happy Hour: Jim Morrison & Hilaree Nelson
