A small silicone piece on some Podium and Peak Fitness CamelBak water bottles may come loose and pose a choking risk.
CamelBak is voluntarily recalling nearly 50,000 water bottles in North America due to a potential choking hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today.
The recall includes CamelBak’s Podium and Peak Fitness water bottles — specifically, some caps that came with those water bottles. According to the CPSC, a small silicone valve can come loose and detach, potentially resulting in a choking risk.
The recall includes about 46,000 bottles in the U.S. and another 13,000 across Canada. To date, CamelBak said it received 14 reports of the valve coming loose with no reports of injuries.
The faulty caps have the date codes H19039, H19063, or H19175 on the underside of the cap, and accompanied Peak and Performance Fitness bottles in 17-, 21-, and 24-ounce sizes in a variety of colors. These bottles retailed in stores and online between February 2019 through January 2021 for $10-25.
