“Over the next several weeks, they’re going to be opening at a very rapid pace.” – Marcus Lemonis, Gander Outdoors Owner.
Gander Outdoors, the rebranded phoenix of bankrupt Gander Mountain, will rise from the ashes in the coming months with dozens of store openings across the United States.
Marcus Lemonis, the celebrity owner of the rebranded outdoors retailer, took to Facebook Live for the announcement on Wednesday.
Lemonis explained the revamped Gander Outdoors sales strategy and announced store locations in the post.
Distinct Specialties Within Gander Outdoors
“Rather than just opening up a big box, we decided to change it up a little bit,” Lemonis said. “What you’ll see is very distinct departments with very distinct specialties and brands.”
The “Legend” department, he said, will carry firearms and hunting gear. The “Overton’s” department will sell everything marine, such as boating, fishing, and “everything you can think of on the water.” A final department, “Erehwon,” will cater to camping, active sports, bikes, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and more.
Those businesses will live inside of Gander Outdoors, and some markets may have additional “standalone stores” included, Lemonis said.
Gander Outdoors Locations and Opening Dates
All stores will open by the end of May or middle of June, Lemonis said.
Two stores have already opened. Lakeville, Minn., was the first store to open, followed by Utica, Mich. Stores in Janesville, Wisc., and Fredericksburg, Virginia, will open in the next couple of weeks.
The video goes on to show a long list of stores that will open in the coming months.
According to the post, stores will open in Montana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Alabama, Iowa, Kansas, Florida, Colorado, and Georgia.
Lemonis showed 69 locations in all, plus a few that have not yet been “approved.” It remains unclear as to whether Gander Mountain, which had 162 brick-and-mortar shops across the country at the time of its bankruptcy in May, will open more locations at a later time. However, the brand did state on social media that it is always looking for opportunities.
We’ll be visiting a Gander Outdoors to check out the brands and prices offered soon.
