Jason and Chelsey Magness for years lived on the road, traveling, teaching yoga, endurance racing, and climbing tall peaks around the world.

But in late 2010, the couple — who run the YogaSlackers group and contribute to GearJunkie — settled in Bend, Ore. They moved into a one-story home straight from Chelsey’s Toyota.

The couple, now married, today spend about half the year in Bend. Their home, which we visited to photograph and live in for a weekend, is something of a gear junkie’s dream — equipment, ropes, bikes, shoes, outerwear, yoga gear, backpacks, tents, and maps are everywhere.

A line of webbing is strung in the backyard, a 100-foot span set up to train for high-lining. It ends at a friend’s backyard. “We can slackline from our porch to his house,” Chelsey said.

Their residence is also the base for a home-stay program that Jason and Chelsey operate. Endurance athletes, yogis, acrobats and slackliners can stay at the house to train and learn with the couple. They offer programs on JandCtraining.com.

Beyond the house, the Magness’ are huge fans of Bend, a city of 75,000 in central Oregon. “Our shoulders relaxed when we got here,” Chelsey said of the town.

Bike trails and running routes stream from their neighborhood. Singletrack is a 15-minute pedal to the east, where the city fades into foothills and high desert.

A cannel runs almost in their backyard, and when the water flow is high they can paddle to the Deschutes River near downtown.

Take a peek inside the house here. Jason and Chelsey gave us a look around and license to photograph at will.
