Ibis Builds a Budget Bike: The ‘Exie for All’

Ibis sought to lower the budgetary requirement of a mid-range MTB with its new made-in-Vietnam Exie — and it succeeded.

The Ibis “Exie for all” points directly toward a pain point mountain bikers commonly face: the high cost of a fully suspended bike.

Ibis’ previous Exie USA fit the bill of a hand-built racing mountain bike in the middle of the road on price. The World Cup-winning rig retails at $7,999. But Ibis wanted to go lower, so it took its manufacturing operations to Vietnam and got the job done: the “Exie for all” checks in at $4,999 MSRP.

The 29er has XC-geared geometry and components, like a moderate 67.2-degree head angle and 120/100mm travel suspension. Fox Factory handles the ride with a Performance Series Float DPS dw-link shock with EVOL, plus a Float 34 Performance Series fork.

The carbon fiber bike weighs in at a reasonably svelte 26.3 pounds — just a hair heavier than the Exie USA. The entry-level ($4,999) option comes with a Shimano Deore drivetrain and brakes. The 148mm boost rear spacing accommodates a stock 1×10 setup. And Maxxis Recon Race 2.4” tires wrap Ibis-built aluminum wheels.

The Santa Cruz, Calif., brand looks to suit riders from 5’ to 6’6” across four available sizes. Seat post angles steepen as sizes get larger to help taller riders get into the same positions as their shorter counterparts.

The Exie for all went live this morning. Check it out on the Ibis website.
