The “Live Monumental” tour is sponsored by Portland-based KEEN Footwear. It will take a zigzag course from Oregon to Washington D.C., visiting five potential new national monuments along the way.

Mountains, deserts, river canyons, and deep forests are among the wild lands that the “Live Monumental” tour is highlighting. Designating these areas as new national monuments would mean the protection of 3 million acres of land.

The locations include Mojave Desert in California; the Owyhee Canyonlands of Oregon; the Birthplace Of Rivers wilderness in West Virginia; the Boulder-White Clouds mountains of Idaho; and Gold Butte in Nevada.

If all goes as planned the RV will be in Washington D.C. in September. The group will hand deliver the estimated 100,000+ signatures on a giant paper scroll to the Obama Administration as a physical representation of public support.
