There’s a lot of history on the North Cascades High Traverse — but not a whole lot of action.

Perusing the route and various demands, a few reasons why sharpen into focus. Here’s how FKT.com puts it: “Expect to encounter the North Cascade’s finest bushwhacking, steep snow, glacier travel, scree/talus/boulder fields, scrambling (including a few fifth class steps), inclement weather, and challenging navigation.”

Zoiks. Clearly, anyone attempting a fastest known time (FKT) on the 124-mile, 59,000-foot elevation change route needs to have their ducks in a row.
