Watch as the legendary rider envisions, builds, and completes an epic 22-trick snowboarding obstacle course.
Have you joined nearly 400,000 people in watching Seb Toots complete a gnarly 22-feature snowboard obstacle course?
If not, check it out.
OK, now that you’re up to speed, we’ve got another goody for you — a 22-minute behind-the-scenes video that pulls back the curtain on how the original viral vid came together.
“The Obstacle Course,” produced by Red Bull, follows Sébastien Toutant — better known as Seb Toots — as he dreams up the idea, designs the obstacles, and adjusts each one to flow into the next.
Toots Stays Creative to Succeed
“I spent over 16 years competing, so that’s a very long time. I am trying to re-invent the sport and film more projects to show the world that I can do stuff other than just compete,” the multi-talented Toots told Red Bull in a press release.
The Canadian is an accomplished professional snowboarder, but his most recent claim to fame is a series of viral parkour videos that blew up on YouTube.
“Leaning on my creative side is how I always kept my passion for snowboarding. There are no bad or wrong ideas; you must think outside of the box and continue to push your limits to achieve great things,” he said.
It’s easy enough to land individual elements in an obstacle course (if you’re Seb Toots). But it’s another thing entirely to flawlessly nail each trick, in sequence, without eating snow. That’s the big challenge in “The Obstacle Course” — trying to film a flawless run on the course in a single take.
It’s no small feat, and one that becomes increasingly impressive the more you watch Toots study and perfect each element on the course. By the time it all comes together, you’re in awe not only of Toots’ skill as a boarder but also of his perseverance.
A Lifetime of Riding
Sébastien Toutant might only be 30 years old, but he’s already had a long career as a rockstar snowboarder. He went pro at 16 and has podium appearances at the X Games and 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics (he took home the gold, natch.) We can’t wait to see what he cooks up next.
