ARCTIC: Horn and Ousland Continue to Cross Arctic Ocean. Two polar explorers, Mike Horn and Borge Ousland, after 80 days already on the ice, are continuing in their mission to cross the Arctic Ocean from pole to pole. You can read their latest trip updates here and follow along online.
UTMB Oman: Niwa, Keith Win 170km Run at Oman by UTMB. The UTMB, a popular race established first in the French Alps, just held its second edition in Oman this year. The race consisted of 170km, 130km, and 50km categories.
Kaori Niwa won the women’s 170km race, and Eoin Keith took first for the men’s 170km, with local Omani runner Hamdan Al Khatri finishing a close second. In addition, Romain Olivier took first place for men in the 130km distance while Francesca Canepa took first in the 130km for the women.

TOKYO 2020: IFSC Finals Wrap Up in Toulouse, Climbers Qualify for Olympics. Six men and six women qualified for the Olympics after the weekend IFSC finals in Toulouse, France. For the women, Laura Rogora, Julia Chanourdie, Kyra Condie, Yulia Kaplina, Song Yiling, and Mia Krampl received invitations to Tokyo.
For the men, Adam Ondra, Jan Hojer, Alberto Gines Lopez, Nathaniel Coleman, Bassa Mawem, and YueFei Pan qualified. These qualifiers will join the 14 highest-ranked world championship climbers in Tokyo (see below).
Climbers already headed to Tokyo are Tomoa Narasaki, Jakob Schubert, Rishat Khaibullin, Kai Harada, Mickael Mawem, Alexander Megos, Ludovico Fossali, Sean McColl, Janja Garnbret, Akiyo Noguchi, Shauna Coxsey, Aleksandra Miroslaw, Miho Nonaka, Petra Klingler, Brooke Raboutou, and Jessica Pilz.
