When COVID-19 caused widespread supply chain shortages that killed some businesses, survivors turned to online retail. Instead, Vasque Boots turned the other direction; now, it makes an e-commerce comeback.
Remember when the pandemic was really bad? We’re still living in it, of course. That’s obvious from the continued rollout of new vaccines in the U.S. just last month.
Nevertheless, many parts of life have slowly returned to something resembling normalcy. One blatant example of that reality that never changed was online retail, which never slowed down — unless you worked at Vasque.
Vasque Boots reopened its online store this week after closing its virtual doors nearly a year ago. As supply chains around the world sustained heavy disruptions, Vasque shut down e-commerce transactions on its website in order to focus its limited inventory on retailers, a company spokesperson said.
If you’ve been missing Vasque — or just itching for a new pair of hiking boots — the boot maker returns to form this week. Given that the supply chain shortages COVID-19 exerted shuttered many other outdoor businesses, that’s no small thing.

With its online reopening, Vasque made sure to have many of its most popular boots ready to go.
That starts with the company’s signature Sunsetter NTX, a lighter version of the company’s Sundowner, which first debuted in 1984. The hiking boots’ design includes a leather upper, red lace, and a mesh collar. They’re also waterproof and made with 50% recycled material, Vasque claimed. The Sunsetter boots have options for men and women and sell at an MSRP of $160.
