In a bit over two hours we came out the other end of Wadi Ghwayr. The canyon widened into a wash, scattered stones forming a field in bright sun.
The water disappeared, absorbed into Jordan’s sand or evaporated by heat. We again squinted ahead. The desert was bleak and dead, heat rising in waves.
Somewhere beyond was our lodge, an oasis at the end of Wadi Ghwayr. Our finish line for an epic day.
