Fork legs on Salsa Warbird and Vaya bikes can break, posing an injury hazard to the rider.

Back in January, Salsa Cycles independently and voluntarily recalled about 1,900 bicycles because of possible fork weakness.

But due to the government shutdown, the Consumer Products Safety Commission did not announce the recall until this week. Salsa’s recall affects Salsa Warbird and Vaya bicycles built in 2019.

Consumers who purchased a 2019 Salsa Warbird Carbon series bicycle or frameset — including Ultegra Di2, Force 1, 105, Apex 1, or Tiagra-equipped bicycles — and 2019 Salsa Vaya 105 bicycles and framesets should stop using their bikes immediately.

Specialty bicycle retailers nationwide sold the bikes from September through November 2018.

Consumers should contact Salsa or the retailer who sold the bike. The brand will supply a free installation of a replacement fork.

For more information, contact Salsa at 877-774-6208 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or visit the recall section of Salsa’s site.
