The EcoBoulder Bluetooth speaker is waterproof, dustproof, and ready for just about anything your wild outdoor party can throw at it.

The party doesn’t have to end when somebody tips the speaker off the dock, because this suitcase-sized speaker floats. It also plays crisp, room-filling music that we at GearJunkie have been listening to in the office for the past month.

Made by Ecoxgear, the EcoBoulder is a big, loud, portable speaker. It maxes out at 100 Watts, has 100 feet of Bluetooth range, and protects phones in a waterproof housing inside the device. Plus, it rolls like luggage, making it easy to bring to your next outdoor barbecue or lakeside gathering.

EcoBoulder Portable Speaker Specs

The EcoBoulder has an 8″ full range speaker, 8″ rear woofer, and a 3″ tweeter. The body is 15″x12″x20″, and weighs 27 lbs.

The speaker is powerful and kicks out a nice broad spectrum of sound. It manages low base OK, although mid-range and high notes will dominate at higher volumes.

Overall, the speaker sounds pretty good, but it doesn’t measure up with most home-oriented, interior sound systems. That said, for something you can toss in a swimming pool, it’s pretty sweet and will keep your party rocking.

Yep, it’s really waterproof. We soaked it in a vat of water, while it was on, and it kept playing music, no problem. Just be sure to dry it off before charging as noted on the warning stickers.

The speaker contains a rechargeable battery. It fully recharges in 7-8 hours and can play music for over 10 hours. Also, it contains two 3.5mm auxiliary inputs and one 6.5mm mic input, so you can use it as a PA system or even for karaoke.

Two USB ports will charge your phone or other devices on the go. It costs $250.

This is probably the largest portable speaker we’ve tested. For those who want to bring a booming Bluetooth system anywhere, including into the pool or a rain storm, this is a solid, durable option.
