If you’ve been holding out on buying a name-brand wristwatch because of the price, then this is the deal that you — and your parents, and your parents’ parents — have been waiting for!
On November 16, Timex will launch a limited run of Waterbury timepieces that pay homage to the “Yankee pocket watch” that sold for $1 in 1854. And what better way to pay tribute than to sell it for the exact same price?
“The $1 Anniversary Watch pays homage to the original Waterbury campaign, which promised ‘correct time for little money,'” Timex Chief Marketing Officer Shari Fabiani said in a press release.
Online and at participating retail stores, Timex will sell the 170th Anniversary Waterbury watch for a buck — until all 1,000 units are sold.

Timex $1 Waterbury Watch
From its launch until the turn of the 20th century, nearly 50 years later, Timex sold more than 6 million of the original dollar timepieces. According to Timex, the wallet-friendly watch helped democratize time for farmers, train conductors, and factory workers alike.
