RESCUE: Appalachian Trail Hiker Rescued for Medical Emergency. A 33-year-old visitor from Ohio was hiking a section of the AT in the 100-Mile Wilderness when he began experiencing chest pains, channel WMTW reported. Two search teams were able to find and locate the man and transport him via helicopter to the nearest hospital.

RIDE: 20-Year-Old Bikes 2,000 Miles From Scotland to Greece. Kleon Papadimitriou, an electronic engineering student going to school in Scotland, couldn’t travel home to Greece by plane due to the lockdown. So he decided to ride his bike instead. Papadimitriou started in mid-May and took 7 weeks to travel the 2,000 miles.

RECORD: Ultrarunner Sets New Record Time on UK’s Oldest Trail. Ultramarathon runner Damian Hall, 44, has set a new record time for the 268-mile Pennine Way. Hall set a new FKT of 61 hours 34 minutes, beating the previous record by more than 3 hours, a record actually set less than a week before Hall’s attempt.

The route covered more ascent than Mt. Everest. The inov-8 ambassador also picked up litter along the way, with the help of his pacers and support team.

RACE: Helly Hansen Becomes Official Partner of The Ocean Race. Outdoor apparel and sailing clothing brand Helly Hansen announced it will be the official partner of The Ocean Race.

The Race is a 38,000-mile sailing competition around the world, where teams sail 24 hours a day in an epic battle to reach the finish line first. The race is slated to start in Spain in fall 2022.

GARMIN: Garmin Continues to Combat Reported Cyber Attack. The fitness wearable brand suffered a massive outage last week and has been working to resolve the outage and subsequent issues since. Garmin has confirmed that inReach SOS messaging and user data has not been affected.
