SKI: New York Ski Resort Damaged in Avalanche. On Christmas morning, a small avalanche struck in Ulster County, N.Y., bringing 6.5 inches of snow but also damaging the Belleayre Mountain ski resort. The avalanche caused a snow slide to break through the structure and windows of a lodge. No one was hurt. The resort reopened on Dec. 27.

CLIMB: Alex Megos Climbs V15 Boulder Project. German rock climber Alex Megos has climbed the hardest bouldering grade out there, sending the V15-graded The Story of Two Worlds in Cresciano, Switzerland. Back in August, Megos made the first ascent of Bibliographie, an agreed-upon 5.15d, one of the two hardest sport climbs in the world.

FILMS: Reel Rock Extends Film Tour Through Jan. 3. Reel Rock’s 15th-annual film tour, this year held virtually, has extended its virtual tour screenings and ticket-holder privileges through the holidays. The four films featured at Reel Rock this year include “Deep Roots,” “Black Ice,” “Action Directe,” and “First Ascent Last Ascent.” You can watch the trailers here.

DONATE: Outdoor Prolink Raises Over $70,000 for Nonprofit Partners. Outdoor Prolink (a pro purchase program for outdoor industry professionals) announced its results from matched donations from Giving Tuesday and the month of December.

Prolink has raised a total of $72,873 for its six nonprofit partners in 2020. This year, Prolink’s nonprofit partners were American Whitewater, Conservation Alliance, Outdoor Afro, PridePads Africa, Protect Our Winters, and the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
