In April of 2011, Roger Strong was skiing up a backcountry run in Washington state when an avalanche triggered and nearly ended his and two friends’ lives. When the snow settled, Strong was badly injured but alive. This short video, sponsored by Arc’teryx and produced by Duct Tape Then Beer, tracks Strong from the accident, to confinement in a wheelchair, to recovery — both physical and emotional — a year later to the day. It’s painful to watch as Strong describes the extent of his injury. And he grapples in the film with issues many of us face, including the choice between pursuing a life of risk and adventure when you have family in the wait back at home.
