If you have an old pair of snow goggles lying around and are ready for an upgrade, November is your chance to score. On Saturday, Nov. 16, and Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, the lifestyle eyewear brand is hosting a series of “ReView” trade-in events at its brick-and-mortar locations around the country. Bring new, used, or damaged goggles into one of its six stores, and you can walk out with a brand-new pair for free.
All goggles collected through the ReView events will either be recycled or donated to SOS Outreach, a Denver nonprofit that provides mentorship and outdoor recreation opportunities for local youth.
“We’re excited to welcome more customers into our stores,” Shady Rays founder and CEO Chris Ratterman said in a press release. “Our expert team will help find the perfect pair of snow goggles to replace the old, used, or broken pair they brought in.”
Shady Rays has retail locations in Denver.; Lexington and Louisville, Ky.; Scottsdale, Ariz.; Bloomington, Minn. (inside the Mall of America); and in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. No purchase is necessary to participate in Shady Rays’ Snow Goggle ReView. However, if you do make a purchase at a trade-in event, you’ll get 25% off if you buy an additional pair of goggles.
Shady Rays ReView Events: How It Works
Look up the closest store location to you on the Shady Rays website. On the weekend of Nov. 16-17, bring in a complete pair of snow goggles with the frame, lens, and strap and hand it over to someone who works at the store. Then, you’ll get a free pair of black frame Frontier goggles, with a Blackout full sun lens and black strap.
The store locations have a limited number of goggles to hand out. So, if you plan to trade in your pair of Shady Rays, get to the store early in the day. The brand also notes that this offer is limited to one trade-in per customer.
As mentioned, the stores are also offering 25% off if you decide you want to buy a second new pair of snow goggles while you’re in the store. It’s not a bad deal if you’re in the market for some holiday gifts.
ReView Goggles: Recycled or Donated to SOS Outreach
If the goggles that Shady Rays collects through this ReView trade-in weekend are in poor condition, the brand will send them to TerraCycle to recycle the products.
If they’re usable, though, the goggles will be donated to SOS Outreach. The Denver-based nonprofit has been around for 30 years. Its programs combine outdoor exploration, positive adult mentorship, leadership skills, and community service to help kids grow up with a connection to nature. SOS Outreach works with around 3,000 kids every single year. Its snowboarding program is one of its flagship offerings.
“We are ensuring our young people have the gear they need to safely experience the mountain and feel a sense of belonging,” Anthony Martinez, senior manager of partnerships and events at SOS Outreach, said in a press release. “This support is vital to transforming young lives through outdoor-based mentorship, and we are truly grateful for this investment in our mission.”
So, not only can you get a free pair of goggles through this trade-in program, but you can also help an outdoor organization make a positive impact on young people’s lives. It’s a win-win trade-in event.
