Big-game and waterfowl hunters take note, the 2021 Polaris RANGER XP 1000 is made for you.
Polaris is no stranger to getting off road. With a lineup of ATVs ranging from the fast and fun RZR to the ultra-capable GENERAL, the Minnesota brand makes something for almost everyone.
The RANGER has long been a favorite mode of transport for hunters. The new 2021 releases are taking it a step further with custom models for big-game and waterfowl hunting.
“For decades, we have pushed the industry forward by putting the rider at the center of product innovation, and our new limited-edition models are just the latest example,” said Steven Menneto, president of Polaris Off Road.
“Many of our riders are avid big-game and waterfowl hunters operating in highly-demanding environments, so we built the RANGER XP 1000 Big Game and Waterfowl editions with added strength and capability to provide the ultimate advantage for their specific hunting needs.”
Polaris RANGER XP 1000 ‘Waterfowl’ Edition
Do your outside pursuits take you into deep water and thick mud? Then the Waterfowl Edition could be just what you need. With on-demand AWD and 82 horsepower, it offers plenty of giddy-up.
Unique to the Waterfowl Edition are 29-inch Pro Armor Mud XC Tires for increased traction and clearance. Combined with the arched A-arms, you’ll be able to pass over logs and rocks with the 14-inch ground clearance.
And as anyone who rides in water knows, you’re going to need a well-placed air intake. This edition has an intake above the bed, directly behind the cab. No more worrying about how deep that murky water is.
Other features include a new, custom camo print, LED headlights, a larger front bumper, and an array of accessories curated by popular waterfowl hunter Tony Vandemore.
This model is, of course, an excellent choice for anyone who spends a lot of time in the blind. But it’s also worth considering if you regularly cross rivers, splash through mud, or play at the lake.

The Polaris RANGER XP 1000 ‘Big Game’ Edition
This capable ATV is built for hauling heavy loads in the backcountry. The 82 horsepower provides plenty of power, and the 29-inch Maxxis tires can easily tackle obstacles.
What really sets this model apart, though, is the suspension and Active Descent Control (ADC). First, let’s talk about the self-leveling rear suspension. It brings a new dimension of capability while navigating mountainous terrain with a heavy load by automatically adjusting to maintain an even ride height.
And the ADC works with the engine braking system to engage all four wheels for maximum traction. Combined, these features make the Big Game Edition ideal for mountain pursuits.
The 4,500-pound winch is now mounted higher up for easier use. And the half-ton capacity means you can confidently haul out big loads.
Like the Waterfowl Edition, there is a bevy of accessories available. Polaris worked with big-game hunters Lee and Tiffany Lakosky to curate a selection of add-ons from a Front Hood Storage Rack to a Heater Kit.

While I haven’t had a chance to test out the new 2021 RANGER XP 1000, I’ve spent a lot of time in both the RZR and GENERAL XP 1000 and, boy, are they fun. We’ve worked them through sun and snow from 5,000 feet to 10,000 feet in elevation, and they’ve never disappointed.
To be sure, the new Polaris RANGER XP 1000 is an investment, with a base price of $20,199. But if you spend a lot of time in the duck blind or scouting in the mountains, the Waterfowl and Big Game Editions could be just what you need to successfully fill the freezer — or just get outside and have a darn good time.
