After years of customer requests, PNW Components has jumped into the MTB technical-apparel game with a jacket, a jersey, and men’s shorts.
PNW Components has only been around since 2015. But in that short time, it’s made a name for itself with quality bike components at an affordable price point.
The brand’s new apparel line is Bluesign- and OEKO-TEX-certified. Even better, it ships in compostable, biodegradable packaging and comes with PNW’s lifetime warranty.
The designs are focused on complete coverage — features like drop tails, angled sleeves, and generous length abound.
Lander Jacket
The hero piece for PNW’s debut is the Lander Jacket — a DWR-treated, four-way-stretch, high-coverage shell with unique “anti-flop” technology. It’s a novel touch that uses a small buckled strap that works like the belt on a robe. The idea is to keep items in your pocket from rattling around on steep descents.
Rear dual zippers allow for manual ventilation because, let’s face it, waterproof-breathable fabric only goes so far. An adjustable, helmet-compatible hood, a full-length zipper, and a drop hem complete the feature set.
The Lander will set you back $149 — reasonable for a technical shell — and comes in two stylish colors.
Ozone Trail Jersey
Base layers are important. PNW’s unisex Ozone Trail Jersey features flatlock seams, longer-than-average short sleeves, and a drop tail — all thoughtful features designed with riders in mind. The $59 jersey comes in blue and gray and (our favorite part) with a 20%/80% merino-polyester blend.
PNW Components Shuttle Short
PNW is working on women’s-specific pieces that will launch at a later date. In the meantime, the brand felt that “a unisex version of our Fall ’21 Shuttle Short would make too many compromises for women riders [so] the short is designed with men in mind.”
The Shuttle Short sports four-way stretch, DWR-treated fabric, a long inseam, and a contoured hem designed to interface seamlessly with knee protection. Zippered thigh pockets are on the sides, so the contents won’t get in the way while pedaling.
PNW designed the pockets to accommodate the large phones currently on the market. The shorts run $99 and come in classic black.
