Measure heart rate, gauge speed, and race against your friends – virtually. Apple Watch owners can now integrate their pow passions with ski-tracking apps.
We’re all leery of Apple updates. They can alter our favorite apps and always require an agonizing restart. But the latest update for Apple Watch owners is one skiers should jump on right away.
This week’s update makes the smartwatch compatible with ski-tracking apps snoww, Slopes, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, SNOCRU, and Ski Tracks.
The update allows app developers to utilize Apple Watch Series 3 GPS and altimeter monitoring. With it, wearers can see calories they’ve burned on the slope, measure vertical feet skied, track time on the slope vs. in the lift, locate friends, and more.
Plus, fitness metrics from your runs will appear in the Apple Watch Activity app. The updates are available in the app store and require watchOS 4.2 or later.
For those who wear an Apple Watch and ski, the apps are a fun way to keep track of a day on the slopes. And with little or no cost to use most of them, they will give your beloved watch one more tool to enjoy.
