Checkpoint MN launches today, and it includes more than $40,000 in prizes and 10 checkpoints scattered at iconic outdoors destinations around the state.

The event is a do-it-yourself adventure, and anyone eligible can participate. Participants earn prizes by traveling to checkpoints, taking a photo of themselves with a checkpoint sign, and uploading it to the site.

A gallery of all check-in photos will be featured on CheckpointMN.com. See all the information and rules here.

The event is produced by Monopoint Media, a sister company of GearJunkie, and the State of Minnesota via its Explore Minnesota Tourism arm. It runs from Dec 3, 2015, to Jan 31, 2016.

Last year, thousands of people made the trip to visit checkpoints around Minnesota. The event awarded gear and prizes to everyone who participated.

’10 Iconic Outdoor Destinations’

Checkpoint locations this year include epic outdoors spots like Voyageurs National Park, to Cuyuna State Recreation Area, a popular fat-biking destination, to the World’s Largest Free Standing Hockey Stick. See all the locations here.
