Gear Junkie: Any hints on what might be the most challenging sections for racers?

Stjepan Pavicic: I don’t want to give many details, but I can say that the hardest sections will start in the second half of the race when we get away from civilization and traverse the wildest territories of Tierra del Fuego.

Gear Junkie: What recommendations would you make to the teams?

Stjepan Pavicic: With only a month until the start of the race, I would recommend that participants take care of injuries and perfect their food and equipment strategies. Both of these can make a big difference during the race. Beyond comfort, they will influence performance directly.

A good food strategy will allow you to cope with harsh weather here in Patagonia, and this will make a difference — especially in the second and most difficult part of the race.

Regarding equipment, lighter is not always better. It is important to balance quality and benefits. A few more grams can provide the warmth necessary to save energy, and improve a racer’s enjoyment of nature and the race.
