The Gear Junkie’s feet are prominently featured in the new issue of Backpacker magazine (Feb. 2007), where Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Dorn dives into a multi-page report on the Primal Quest Adventure Race. Mr. Dorn and The Gear Junkie (Stephen Regenold) were teammates in the 10-day race, which covered 400+ miles in the Utah Desert.
Highlights of the story include Mr. Dorn describing the trippy effects of endurance racing; a scene set on a lightning-battered ridge of Turtle Mesa reminiscent of the apocalypse; and a close-up of Regenold’s foot, complete with a silver-dollar-size blister/lesion that took four weeks to heal.
