So your favorite mountaineering jacket, boots or pants are dirty. Or they seem to have lost their water repellency. Don’t throw them away — a free gear rehab program is available now!

Nikwax, a maker of washes and sprays designed to reinvigorate outdoor clothing and gear, is offering a free gear rehabilitation program.

That’s right, it’s Free. The company will wash and treat one piece of outdoors gear, per person, each year.

No, it won’t come back brand new, but the treatment will add a lot of life to an old favorite garment. And with the high cost of outdoor gear, why not get every last ski run, fishing expedition or hike possible from each purchase?

There are a few restrictions: Just one piece of gear per person per year, no tents or huge items like yurts, or boat covers. You must include a rehab form (print it out from the website) with any gear you send.

While you have to pay to send the gear to Nikwax, the company will even pay for the return postage.

Allow up to three weeks from when Nikwax receives the gear to get it back.

For more details and to get your free gear rehab, visit the free gear rehabilitation page and follow the directions.
