Today is Women-Led Wednesday, a new initiative to make it easier for people to find and support products made by women-owned or -led companies. So we went shopping.
After all, we’re in the biggest shopping week of the year. But rather than lining up at Target, starting today you can target your holiday funds at businesses with women at or near the top.
We pulled together a few of our favorite Women-Led Wednesday gift ideas at various price points for outdoorsy loved ones.
Big Spender: Skis/Snowboard
Coalition Snow
Founder Jen Gurecki just stopped by the GearJunkie office to show us her skis and boards. So we’ve got Coalition Snow on the brain, especially as the snow is falling early this season here in Colorado. Check out the new WhoDis? Freeride Snowboard.
Icelantic Skis
This established ski maker out of Golden, Colo., is known for its primo skis, bold artist collaborations, and one badass female CEO. Don’t overlook the latest Icelantic women’s apparel line either: pocket dresses, jumpsuits, overalls, ponchos, and more.
Pallas Snowboards
This Salt Lake City brand makes women’s-specific snowboards and backcountry splitboards in small batches with some wildly progressive shapes.
On a Budget: Leggings
Scout Designs
Bright, striped, colorful stretchy leggings are as fun to browse as they are to give. The only problem will be narrowing down your favorites.
Wild Rye
Known for its mountain bike shorts, Wild Rye also makes some nice merino wool base layers like the Mauna Kea leggings (in the featured image at the top of this article), which double for après ski.
Superfit Hero
This L.A.-based clothier is inspiring the plus-size activewear space, because as the brand’s mission states, “Fitness is for all.” Women of many sizes will want these beautiful geometric leggings, which come in XS to 5XL.
Small (But Mighty): Miscellaneous
Powers Provisions
Browse this handmade collection for knits and prints for your closest friends. The “Braver” postcard design, made especially for Women-Led Wednesday by Colorado illustrator Annie Herzig, is frame-worthy. But you could use these cards for holiday packages too.
Sh*t That I Knit
Super warm and cozy against the skin, these handknit hats and beanies come in so many colors and styles, with and without poms. And that’s just the start of all the sh*t founder Christina knits in Boston.
Noso Patches
Who doesn’t want an adorable cat patch to save favorite outdoor gear and apparel? These surprisingly effective heat-activated adhesives are the brainchild of Kelli Jones, who had seen one too many duct-taped puffy coats. Make a custom-cut Noso for your favorite gear junkie.
