Soft, quality knit construction made the original PolarFleece a fashionable and functional icon. Now it’s back, and as its own brand.
Introduced in 1981, Polartec created a soft and stylish fleece fit for the ’80s. That means it was not only functional, but also capable of competing for attention among massive hair, parachute pants, and the music of a-ha. Cue the tunes.
Now you can get that blast from the past with your own, customized PolarFleece. Make it as subtle or gaudy as you choose.
Introduced in the 80s, PolarFleece kept skiers warm and looking good. Our older editors claim they paired well with Zinka. Originally created with The North Face jackets, the brand is now back as a standalone.
Modern PolarFleece customers will soon be able to customize the jackets with various colors for the arms, pockets, and body. There has yet to be an official release date.
Aside from the fashion associated with the apparel, the fleece boasts some modern technical advancements. Most notably, the brand claims increased range of motion with the same warmth and comfort.
Custom PolarFleece
Use the Awesomizer, a web-based program, to visualize what your fleece could look like. You can select core, individual sleeves, pocket, and trim color. While ’80s style might be difficult to replicate in full, the jacket’s performance comes built in.
Made from Polartec 200 Series Fleece fabric, the knit construction integrates thermal air pockets to insulate the wearer.
The fleece uses Polartec Power Stretch for increased range of motion along the collar, pocket, waist, and cuffs. The jackets are made in the USA from 100 percent upcycled plastic bottles.
These upgrades increase the durability and lifespan of the garment. So your creation should last long enough to go in style, out of style, and then all the way back in style again.
