Sugoi, a Vancouver, B.C., company, has unveiled its Spring 2008 product line, including the Helium Jacket, a 3-ounce piece made of woven polyester. That’s right, 3 ounces.

When it comes to market in 2008, the Helium Jacket—along with its cousin, the 2.5-ounce Helium Vest—will be among the lightest-weight piece of outerwear available.

Details are few on this piece so far, but my guess is that it’s made with material thin enough to fold up into a handkerchief-size package. I have an old-school windshirt like this from Wild Things, and it rolls into a baseball-size shape that I can cram away in the bottom of a pack.

Sugoi (www.sugoi.com) said the Helium jacket will go for $85.

Other features include a back zip pocket and Scotchlite reflective piping along the full-length zipper.

More details to come when available. . .
