A Word From Jesse Huffman

I’m a writer and film director based out of Montpelier, Vermont. I turned a high school obsession with snowboarding into a profession, happily postponing college for the cliffs and backcountry lines of British Columbia and Washington. In my mid-20’s I dusted off my other childhood passion, writing, and switched to covering snowboard destinations, innovations, and personalities as a regular contributor for Transworld Snowboarding and Snowboarder. Returning to the East Coast, I earned my BA from the New School in New York City and interned for National Geographic Adventure.

Since 2010, I’ve been writing and directing films from my home state of Vermont. I’ve had the opportunity to cover travel, emerging action sports, and climate change for publications including New York Times, ESPN, and Outside, while crafting award- winning video series on Olympic athletes and clean technology renegades for brands like Toyota and outlets like Vice. I’m currently finishing my first feature documentary, “Claim the Lane,” following the story of an Iraq-veteran amateur cyclist who risks her closest relationships to come out and transition at age 51. An admitted gear-nerd, I will bore the daylights out of anyone nearby with the amount of research and indecision involved with any new purchase, and then run that piece of equipment into the ground with repeated use. When I’m not at the desk or in the field, you can find me splitboarding for powder, cross country skiing the backyard trails, hiking Vermont’s trails, riding the state’s endless gravel roads, or nursing a landlocked surf habit.
