Michelle is an essayist, journalist, and travel writer with a passion for exploring remote, beautiful places. She spent a year backpacking the world solo, which taught her what gear you really need — and all the things you can live without. Her favorite places she’s hiked around the world include the lava fields of Hawaii, the seaside hills of Sicily, a New Zealand volcano, and Iceland’s glaciers. Born and raised in the foothills of Upstate New York, she spent her youth wandering the forests and farms around her house, letting her imagination run wild, which is probably why she’s now a writer.
