Near Death: BASE Jumper Matthias Giraud Accepts His Mortality

‘Your instinct tells you you should not be doing this.’ But this BASE jumper bucks that instinct.

“Borderline a genius, borderline a madman” is how friends describe Matthias Giraud. Giraud, a professional skier, BASE jumper, and all-around adventurer, has been working on several new stunts lately. Luckily for us, a film company decided to follow him on his journey of chasing danger, falling in love, and starting a family — all at once.

“‘Super Frenchie’ provides an intimate look at the life of professional skier and BASE jumper Matthias Giraud,” the film crew teased. “The story takes a turn when Matthias suffers a catastrophic crash just days before the birth of his first child.”

In the film, Giraud runs, jumps, and skis off cliffs. Then, he’s confronted with facing his own mortality.

“Super Frenchie” has a runtime of 77 minutes. The film will drop in theaters on March 26, 2021. Learn more here.
