‘Leichtbau’ is German for ‘lightweight,’ and Cannondale applies the term accurately for its new limited-edition frameset.

Cannondale’s popular SuperSix EVO road bike sheds weight in its new, exclusive special-edition frame. Dropping another 10% off the already-light hi-mod carbon frame, the new 750g SuperSix EVO Leichtbau serves as a base to build up the lightest Cannondale road bikes. But the brand will make just 200 framesets available, so act fast to go fast!

With the release, Cannondale celebrates its 50th birthday by dropping weight. The SuperSix EVO Leichtbau sheds 90g off the production hi-mod SuperSix EVO. That bike gained notoriety when EF Education raced it in bright colors, and Lachlan Morton toured on it.

But refining that already-light carbon layup isn’t easy, so the new Leichtbau frame isn’t just lighter — it’s also more expensive and exclusive.

Cannondale lays up the limited-edition bike by hand in the same mold as the standard hi-mod SuperSix EVO. The resulting Cannondale SuperSix EVO Leichtbau frame weighs just 750g for a medium frame, with its minimal raw paint finish with bronze and chrome paint detailing, and all of its key machined alloy hardware. That makes this the “lightest disc road bike frameset that Cannondale has ever made.”

Tech-wise, the Leichtbau gets all the same features as the standard SuperSix EVO Hi-mod. Easy-to-manage KNØT Integrated hidden cable routing exists outside of the headset just at the top of the head tube. Chopped-off airfoil tube shaping throughout reduces aerodynamic drag but retains relatively small tubing profiles. Results: light weight, rider comfort.

Vibration damping dropped SAVE seat stays, 12mm Speed Release thru-axles, flat mount disc brakes, PF30a bottom bracket, and an integrated proprietary aero SAVE seat post. All of that, plus clearance for 30mm all-road tires to boost rider comfort, grip, and control, and to lower rolling resistance.
