Serial 1 hits the trail with a limited-edition, fully rigid, single-speed electric mountain bike.
Can an e-bike be minimalist? Milwaukee-based bike maker Serial 1 certainly thinks so. It just launched a limited-edition ride that manages to be both technologically advanced and stripped down to the (e-bike) basics.
The BASH/MTN features Michelin E-Wild E-GUM-X 27.5 x 2.6-inch tires, an SR Suntour NCX suspension seat post, and TRP hydraulic disc brakes. A Brose S Mag motor delivers 90Nm of available torque for a max pedal-assist speed of 20 mph.
A Gates Carbon Drive belt rounds out the drivetrain, while a 529Wh removable battery provides 30-95 miles of range (depending on terrain and mode).
“Less is more,” said Aaron Frank, Brand Director at Serial 1, in a press release. “That’s the promise of BASH/MTN. No fussy suspension to tune, no finicky drivetrain to adjust — just two wheels, one gear, and one purpose to provide the most direct connection between you and the trail. The less you worry about managing and maintaining technology, the more you can focus on enjoying every ride.”
Other Features of the Serial 1 BASH/MTN
The BASH/MTN is built around an aluminum frame, and fork dressed up in a snazzy Yucca Tan paint job. Other features include integrated front and rear lighting, a rear-mounted adjustable length kickstand, an integrated device charger, and four drive modes (Eco, Tour, Sport, and Boost).
Like Serial 1’s other offerings, the BASH/MTN interfaces with the Serial 1 app. The software gives riders access to Google Maps turn-by-turn directions, real-time ride data, security features, and automatic service reminders.
Limited Availability
If you’d like to snag the BASH/MTN, you’d better act fast. Serial 1 only made 1050 of these electric beasts — 525 for the North American market and 525 for Europe. The BASH/MTN comes in four frame sizes and starts at $3,999. Learn more at Serial 1’s website.
