The Vamoots CRD is Moots’ flagship road model, and for the first time, the brand goes down the integrated path.
Moots bikes are known for clean aesthetics, but one look at the Vamoots CRD reveals it lies one step further. Moots only offers the bike with electronic shifting, and the hydraulic brake lines are routed through an ENVE Aero Stem, then through a Chris King Aeroset headset’s upper bearing.
The Vamoots CRD (Complete Road Design) is a pure, undiluted road bike — witness the stripped-down tubing, straightforward geometry, and pencil-thin seat stays.
Built for scenarios where the only variation in the ride is up, down, left, and right, the titanium bike looks like the spiderwebbed rig hanging in your garage that you keep trying to get around to riding.
There’s a decent chance that you won’t be able to resist pedaling the CRD, though. It looks like the epitome of a clean machine with Moots’ careful, curated manufacturing and updated componentry, allowing for up to 32mm tires and disc brakes. A T47 bottom bracket anchors it all, and a standard 27.2mm seat post finishes it off. And for good measure, the brand throws down its “Apex” decal job on a powdered aluminum coat.
The integrated cockpit and internal hose routing deliver a clean, unfettered look. And for anybody who’s uptight about being on the cutting edge, it comes with 3D-printed dropouts and build options that only offer electronic shifting. Moots offers Shimano Dura-Ace, Ultegra, and SRAM eTap AXS componentry packages.
