If you’re considering a move from the rat race to the river-rat life, you’re in luck. Outdoor Adventure River Specialists (OARS), one of the country’s largest and most well-respected whitewater guiding companies, recently released a five-part video series that brings viewers inside its yearly guide school.

“As a leader in the whitewater community, it’s important we expand our outreach and help create opportunities for anyone who has an interest in working as a professional river guide,” Steve Markle, vice president of sales and marketing for OARS, said in a press release.

The series is no replacement for in-person guide school, but if you’re considering the guide life, it functions as a nice primer on what all that entails. And with spring around the corner and many companies starting to staff up for the summer season, now’s the perfect time to watch it.

Take a peek under the hood with episode one (above), then catch the rest of the series on the OARS YouTube page.
