Named after South African explorer Mike Horn — a man who’s sailed solo all around the world and paddled the entire Amazon River, among other expeditions — Wenger created the Mike Horn Ranger Swiss Army Knife.

The high-end ($175) multi-tool/knife was made to have the right mix of tools for an expedition, including a straight-edge knife blade, a locking serrated blade, reamer, metal saw, file, pliers, and other features you’d expect from a Wenger Swiss Army-style knife.

It weighs 8.8 ounces — hefty for a knife! — but also includes flat and Phillips screw driver bits. They stash in the included nylon case and fit into a hex-shape hole in the knife handle for use.

Every aspect of the knife, down to the recycled plastic and wood handle, was designed with Mike Horn in mind, Wenger said. It is touted as “the only knife that outdoor adventurers will need.” Wenger’s Mike Horn Ranger is currently available for $175. www.wengerna.com
